If you are looking for a 7Mind alternative, you have usually already used a good meditation app and do not want to start from zero. The reasons vary: the annual plan gets more expensive in year two, your health-insurance access is running out, the courses no longer fit your day, or what you really want is music for focus and sleep rather than the next guided meditation.
The short answer: if you want your German statutory health insurer to pay for a certified prevention course, there is no better choice than 7Mind. Stay with it. If what you mainly want is music for focus, sleep and calm plus guided meditations in one app that builds a session from one sentence about your mood, NeuroBeatX is the better-fitting 7Mind alternative. Headspace and Calm sit in between.
Disclosure: we make NeuroBeatX. Read this comparison the way you should read any comparison written by a vendor, which is critically. In October 2026 we reviewed the providers' public pricing and health-insurance pages, and every source is listed below. Where we could not confirm a price, we write "check with the provider" instead of inventing a number. NeuroBeatX has no health-insurance reimbursement, and we say so everywhere it matters to you.
What is 7Mind - and why are so many people looking for a 7Mind alternative?
7Mind is a meditation and mindfulness app from Berlin and one of the best-known names in the category in German-speaking countries. According to its website, the app offers more than 2,000 pieces of content as courses and single sessions: meditations, breathing exercises, autogenic training, psychological exercises, knowledge courses and sleep stories. According to 7Mind, the content has been created "for over 10 years by trained psychologists". That is a genuine mark of quality, especially if you want to learn meditation in German with a professional background.
That so many people still look for a 7Mind alternative is rarely about the quality of the content. Google's search suggestions show what most people care about: money and health insurance. Suggestions include "7mind kosten" (cost), "7mind kostenlos" (free), "7mind krankenkasse" (health insurance), "7mind kostenlose alternative" (free alternative) and "7mind vs headspace". So most people thinking of switching are not unhappy with meditation itself. They are asking whether they pay the right price for what they actually use.
- Insurance access runs out: after the free year from the prevention course, the question is whether you want to pay yourself.
- The price rises in year two: the annual plan costs EUR 41.88 in the first year and EUR 77.99 after that.
- You want something different: after a few months many people realize they would rather have music for concentrating or falling asleep than more spoken sessions.
- The course structure no longer fits: eight modules of about 60 minutes each are valuable, but not every schedule has room for them.
What does 7Mind cost in 2026? All 7Mind costs at a glance
We checked 7Mind's costs on October 22, 2026 on the official pricing page 7mind.de/preise. There are two regular plans. The monthly plan costs EUR 14.99 per month with no long commitment. The annual plan is advertised at EUR 6.49 per month. According to the pricing page, you pay EUR 41.88 in the first year and EUR 77.99 per year after that. Both plans unlock full access to 7Mind.
The most important point for your budget is the jump after the first year. If you take out the annual plan in autumn 2026, put the renewal date in your calendar. From the second year, 7Mind costs EUR 77.99. That is not a trick, many introductory offers work this way. But you should know it before the renewal is charged.
7Mind does not list a lifetime offer on its pricing page. If you are specifically searching for a lifetime price, check the current offer in the app or with the provider, because special offers change. We also found no information about student discounts on the pricing page.

Is 7Mind free? Trial, vouchers and free access
7Mind does not describe a permanently free version on its pricing page. You can use 7Mind for free in three ways. First, through the 7-day trial of the annual plan. Second, through a prevention course that your health insurer reimburses and that includes one year of app access. Third, through partner offers such as BARMER's.
BARMER describes two routes on its website. BARMER members aged 18 and over can use 7Mind free for twelve months with their BARMER account. People not insured with BARMER get 30-day trial access via a BARMER voucher. According to BARMER, the app includes the 8-week online course "Erholsamer Schlaf" (restful sleep), among other content.
The pricing page also has an option to redeem vouchers. It does not state the terms of individual vouchers. If you have a voucher from your employer or a promotion, read the duration and renewal rules before redeeming it.
7Mind and health insurance: which insurer pays for 7Mind and how does reimbursement work?
This is 7Mind's biggest advantage, and any honest 7Mind alternative should name it first. 7Mind offers online prevention courses that, according to 7mind.de/krankenkasse, are certified by the Zentrale Pruefstelle Praevention (ZPP), Germany's central prevention-course certification body. Each course lasts eight weeks and consists of eight units of about 60 minutes each. One module unlocks per week. According to 7Mind, the reimbursable item is the booked prevention course at EUR 99.00. Reimbursement by the health insurer is "up to 100%".
Reimbursement usually works like this: you book and pay for the course, receive the receipt by email and complete all eight units within twelve months. You then receive a certificate of participation and submit both to your health insurer. According to 7Mind, the package includes "1 year of free access to 7Mind (no subscription, no cancellation)". Reimbursement generally applies to people with statutory health insurance aged 18 and over. Many insurers limit prevention measures to one or two per year.
According to 7Mind, 14 insurers give you access with no upfront payment, as of October 2026: BMW BKK, Mercedes-Benz BKK, BERGISCHE, Merck BKK, R+V BKK, PwC BKK, SBK, BKK Miele, energie-BKK, BKK Freudenberg, KKH, BKK VDN, BARMER and IKK BB. Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), which people often search for, was not on this direct-access list at the time of our research. Whether and how much TK, DAK, AOK or your own insurer reimburses for a certified course is best confirmed directly with your insurer.
- Course topics at 7Mind according to its health-insurance page: mindfulness-based stress management (ABSM), resilience in dealing with stress, progressive muscle relaxation, restful sleep, autogenic training, mindfulness-based stress management for parents, and mindful living without tobacco.
- Important context: these are prevention courses, not an app on prescription (DiGA). The insurer reimburses the course, not just any subscription.
- And to be completely clear: NeuroBeatX has no health-insurance reimbursement, no ZPP certification and is not a DiGA. If reimbursement matters to you, 7Mind wins here.
7Mind experiences: strengths and limits from our research
Searching for 7Mind experiences turns up many individual opinions. We did not run a user survey and did not test 7Mind over several weeks, and we do not claim to have. What we can give you is a sober review of the public information from 7Mind and its partners. It gives a fairly clear picture of where 7Mind is strong and where it reaches its limits.
The search suggestions also show what people specifically ask about: experiences with the prevention courses, the ABSM course, the resilience course and the BARMER access. For many people, 7Mind is above all the course their insurer pays for. The question afterwards is: what do I do when the course year is over?
- Strength: German-language content that, according to 7Mind, is created by trained psychologists, with well-known voices such as behavioral therapist Lea Vogel and co-founder Paul Kohtes.
- Strength: a large library of more than 2,000 pieces of content, including meditations, breathing exercises, autogenic training, knowledge courses and sleep stories.
- Strength: ZPP-certified prevention courses with up to 100% insurer reimbursement. Purely commercial apps such as NeuroBeatX do not offer this.
- Limit: the pricing page does not describe a permanently free area, and according to the pricing page the monthly plan has no trial.
- Limit: we did not find AI personalization in the public information. You choose content by topic.
- Limit: the focus is on spoken guidance. If you mainly want music for working or falling asleep, specialized music apps offer more choice.
7Mind vs. Headspace: what is the difference?
"7mind vs headspace" is one of the most common search suggestions, and the answer is simpler than it looks. Both are classic meditation apps with guided sessions, courses and sleep content. The difference lies in origin, language and the insurance model. 7Mind is a German app with German-language content and prevention courses that insurers reimburse. Headspace is a US provider with a very large international library.
On its German-language subscription page, Headspace advertises a 14-day free trial. That is twice as long as the 7 days on 7Mind's annual plan. We could not cleanly read a euro price on that page when we checked in October 2026, so we give no number here. Check the current price directly with Headspace. The website is available in German. How much of the content is actually voiced in German is best checked yourself during the trial.
Our view: if you want German-language meditation with a professional background and the option of insurer reimbursement, 7Mind is the right choice. If you want a very large, international library with a longer trial and are comfortable with English content, try Headspace.
Calm and Endel as a 7Mind alternative: sleep and soundscapes
Calm is a US app focused on sleep and relaxation: sleep stories, meditations and calming sounds. If falling asleep was your main reason for using 7Mind, Calm is an obvious alternative. We could not clearly confirm the price and trial length for Germany from an official Calm page. Check both directly with the provider before you subscribe. We found no health-insurance reimbursement for Calm like 7Mind's.
Endel, also from Berlin, is not a meditation app in the classic sense. It generates adaptive soundscapes for focus, relaxation and sleep. According to its website, they adapt in real time to time of day, weather, heart rate and location. Guided courses like 7Mind's are not the focus there. Endel is interesting if you want a continuous layer of sound in the background. You will find current prices and trial terms with the provider.
NeuroBeatX as a 7Mind alternative: music, meditation and Smart Wellness AI
NeuroBeatX takes a different path from 7Mind. At its center is music made by real artists and tuned with neuroscience-informed techniques, for example binaural beats, pink and brown noise and steady BPM structures. There are sessions for focus, deep work, calm, sleep and meditation. On top of that come guided meditations for sleep, morning, stress, body scan and loving-kindness.
What sets it apart is Smart Wellness AI. You describe in one sentence how you feel right now, for example "head full, presentation tomorrow, can't switch off", and the app builds a matching session from it. Smart List assembles a playlist for a goal, for example two hours of deep work. So you do not have to search through a library first. You start from the moment you are actually in.
Where NeuroBeatX does not try to compete: we offer no ZPP-certified prevention courses, no health-insurance reimbursement and no weekly courses built by psychologists like 7Mind's. We also do not claim to be more scientific or more popular than 7Mind or any other app. Music for focus and sleep is a support for your daily life, not a treatment. Many people find it helps them settle into work or wind down. Whether that is true for you, only a test will show.
On cost: on the web you can try NeuroBeatX 1 month free. A card is required and you can cancel anytime. After that NeuroBeatX costs US$12.99 per month or US$115.20 per year. To be honest about the numbers, 7Mind's annual plan is cheaper in the first year. So the difference is not the price, it is what you actually use every day.

Which app fits whom? Who should stay with 7Mind - and who can switch
An honest recommendation also has to say when you should not switch. Here is our take by need rather than by brand.
- Stay with 7Mind if you want your health insurer to pay for a prevention course, if you are in your course year right now, or if you want structured mindfulness courses in German with a psychological background. For an insurer-reimbursed solution, 7Mind is the clear choice, and NeuroBeatX cannot replace that.
- Choose Headspace if you want a very large international library, want 14 days to test calmly, and English content is not a problem for you.
- Choose Calm if falling asleep is your main concern and you want sleep stories and calm sounds. Check the price and trial with the provider first.
- Choose Endel if you want no course and no guidance, but an adaptive layer of sound that runs in the background all day.
- Choose NeuroBeatX if you notice that you need music more than spoken guidance: for concentrating, switching off after work and falling asleep, plus guided meditations when you want them. Smart Wellness AI does the choosing for you.
- Combining works too: many people use the 7Mind course year for mindfulness basics and a music app for focus and sleep. The two do not conflict.
Is there a free 7Mind alternative?
People often search for a free 7Mind alternative. The honest answer: the cheapest way to 7Mind is often 7Mind itself, through your health insurer. If your insurer fully reimburses the EUR 99 prevention course, or you start through one of the 14 direct-access insurers with no upfront payment, you get one year of access without paying yourself in the end. According to BARMER, BARMER members aged 18 and over can use 7Mind free for twelve months.
For the alternatives in this comparison, free usually means a trial. Headspace advertises 14 days, and for Calm and Endel you should check the current terms with the provider. You can try NeuroBeatX on the web 1 month free. A card is required, but you can cancel anytime before anything is charged. A month is enough to see whether the music actually changes something in your daily life.
One tip against subscription traps: put the last day of every trial in your calendar the moment you start it. That applies to every app, including ours.
How do you switch from 7Mind without paying twice?
Cancelling is not the first step. It makes more sense to run both apps side by side for a test week, so you compare in real life instead of on paper. For cancelling 7Mind, 7Mind links a "cancel subscription" form on its website. If you have access through an insurer or a voucher, that access, according to 7Mind, simply runs out with no subscription and no cancellation.
- Note when your 7Mind access ends or renews: monthly plan, annual plan (EUR 77.99 from year 2) or course year.
- Write down what you really use 7Mind for: falling asleep, daytime stress, concentration or a specific course.
- Start the alternative for exactly that purpose and use it for a week at the same time of day.
- Compare honestly: which app did you actually open, and after which one did you feel better?
- Only then cancel the app that lost, in good time before the next charge.
How we compared
This comparison is a desk review of public information as of October 2026. We reviewed the official pages 7mind.de/preise, 7mind.de/krankenkasse and 7mind.de, BARMER's page on 7Mind, Headspace's German-language subscription page and Endel's website. The search terms come from Google search suggestions for Germany on October 22, 2026. They show what people search for, but not how often.
We did not run our own long-term tests of competing apps or any user studies. Under "experiences" you therefore get our review of public information, not invented test verdicts. Where a price or trial could not be clearly confirmed, we write "check with the provider". We make NeuroBeatX and therefore have an interest in the outcome. That is exactly why we name the cases where 7Mind, Headspace, Calm or Endel fit you better.
Health note: meditation and music apps can help you settle down or concentrate in daily life. They do not replace medical or psychotherapeutic care. If sleep problems, stress or anxiety weigh on you over a longer period, talk to your doctor or a qualified professional.

One year of app access is included. With 14 insurers, including BARMER, KKH and SBK, there is direct access with no upfront payment. Otherwise you pay first and submit the receipt and certificate of participation.
Does Techniker Krankenkasse cover 7Mind?
At the time of our research (October 2026), TK was not on 7Mind's list of insurers with direct access and no upfront payment. Whether and how much TK reimburses for a certified 7Mind prevention course can only be confirmed by TK itself. Ask them before you book the course.

No. Reimbursement at 7Mind works through certified prevention courses that you submit to your insurer after completing them. That is not a prescription like a digital health application (DiGA).
Does health insurance pay for NeuroBeatX?

Can you use 7Mind for free?

Can I try NeuroBeatX for free and cancel anytime?
Yes. On the web you can try NeuroBeatX 1 month free with full access. A card is required, and you can cancel at any time during the trial month. Then nothing is charged.
Test your 7Mind alternative for one week in daily life
No comparison replaces a week of real life. If you are not with 7Mind for the health insurance but are looking for music for focus, sleep and calm, do this:
- Note when your 7Mind access ends or renews, so you do not pay twice.
- Open NeuroBeatX in your browser and tell Smart Wellness in one sentence how you feel right now.
- For one week, use a session every day at the same time, for example in the morning for focus or in the evening to fall asleep.
- At the end of the week, compare honestly with 7Mind and keep the app you actually used. With 1 month free, the test costs you nothing.
1 month free on the web, card required, cancel anytime. Then US$12.99 per month or US$115.20 per year. If health-insurance reimbursement matters to you, stay with 7Mind. Honestly, that is the better choice.
